Op 23 juli, ontving de DCW een bericht van Mevr. Diana Haast, die vanuit de trein deze graanformatie ontdekt heeft. Door tijdgebrek en vakantie was ze echter  niet in staat de formatie te bezoeken, en veldonderzoek te doen.

De DCW bedankt mevr. Haast, voor haar bericht en schets.

We hebben onze collega graancirkelonderzoeker, de heer R. K van deze formatie op de hoogte gebracht, en heeft hij deze bezocht. Zijn verslag treft u hier onder aan. We bedanken de heer K. heel hartelijk voor zijn rapportage en foto's.

Bericht van de heer R.K. dd. 29-07-2003:

Vanuit de trein had iemand een graancirkel in het veld naast de spoordijk
gezien nabij het dorpje Kapelle in de provincie Zeeland. De dag waarop de
melder de graancirkel gezien had was de boer een deel van de tarwe aan het
oogsten. Gelukkig spaarde die het deel van het veld waar de cirkels lagen,
tot vandaag. Op 14 juli had de boer nog geen graancirkel in het veld gezien
en op 23 juli vond de boer de formatie.

Diameter kleine cirkeltjes: 2,5 tot 3 meter
Breedte ringen: ± 1,5 meter
Breedte tussen ringen en middencirkeltjes: ± 6 meter
Kortste afstand tussen ringen: ± 3 meter

De draairichting van de aren was in alle ringen met de klok me en in alle
middencirkeltje tegen de klok in.

De graancirkel was niet in perfect ronde vorm, maar het leek wat speels te
zijn neergelegd.

De boer heeft bij de ontdekking de graancirkel bekeken, dit zou de geknakte
stengels kunnen verklaren die in de graancirkel aanwezig waren. Verder waren
alle stengels gebogen op zo'n 3 cm boven de grond. De stengels lagen bijna
allemaal nog plat, een enkele stengel stond recht overeind. Wel leken alle
stengels te zijn doorgegroeid.

De grond onder de formatie was een laag klei met hieronder een veenlaag.
Toen de cirkel werd geoogst bleek dat er maar amper sprake was gewasverlies.
Op enkele kleine groepjes aren na, konden alle graanstengels worden geoogst.
Na de oogst van de cirkel kon de bodem goed bekeken worden naar eventuele
sporen van silicium, deze werden nergens in de formatie aangetroffen.

On july 23th the DCW received a message from Mrs Diana Haast, who discovered this formation from out of a train. Having lack of time, and shortly went on vacation, she wasn't able to do some fieldresearch, nor visiting the site.

Message of Mr. R.K. dd. 29-07-2003:

Out of a train, someone had seen a cropcircle below a railway-embankment, close to the village Kapelle. On the day the formation was reported, the farmer started harvesting the wheat, but fortunately, he left the part, in which the cropcircle was, apart, until today!
On july 14th the farmer has'nt noticed any cropcircle in his field. He saw it first on july 23th.

Diameter of the small circles: 2,5 to 3 metres.
Width of the rings: about 1,5 metres.
Width between the rings and circles in the middle: about 6 metres.
Shortest distance between the rings about 3 metres

The flattened crop in all rings were all directed clockwise, in the small circles they were anti-clockwise

The formation did'nt have a perferct round shape, but seemed to be flattened in a playful way

The farmer inspected the formation after hee ddiscovered it, witch might be the explanation for some broken stems, that afterwards were to be found in the formation. On the other hand, most stems were just bent, about 3 cm above ground level. Almost al stems were flattenend, although  some single ones were standing up. But it seemed, al stems have just been growing, after the formation appeared.

The soil underneath the formationconcisted of a layer of clay, and below it was a layer of moor.
During harvesting it came out, there hardly was any los for the farmer, for he harvested most of the formation as well. After harvesting,  I could inspect the bottom very well, but couldn't find any silicium. That was nowhere to be found in the formation.
