Op 23 6-2002 vloog beroepsfotograaf Ron Moes Over de formatie nabij Groesbeek. Wij danken de heer Moes hartelijk, voor zijn toestemming, gebruikt te mogen maken van zijn foto's. Hij ontdekte deze formatie, die vermoedelijk een paar dagen tevoren was ontstaan. Bij navraag bij de vliegclub Malden, bleek dat geen van de piloten de formatie eerder had gezien.

Welliswaar lag deze formatie in Duitsland, maar zo dicht bij de Nederlandse grens, dat we hem toch op de site hebben opgenomen.

Hoewel we niet met zekerheid kunnen zeggen of we hier met een hoax te maken hebben of niet, is deze figuur eenvoudig in het gewas te maken. Het centrum ligt in een sproeilijn, waardoor geen voetsporen of vernield gewas zichtbaar is.De grote cirkel kan dan heel eenvoudig gemaakt worden.

Voor de kleinere halve cirkels gebruik je dan de halve diameter, en kunt perfect 2 x 6 kleine cirkels produceren, vanuit de plaats waar de vorige halve cirkel de grote snijdt. (Diameter totale formatie ca 45m)

Er is echter een probleem: Cirkels naast elkaar tekenen gaat prima. Op een rechte lijn wel te verstaan, zodat je exact halve cirkels hebt. In deze formatie echter heb je altijd te maken met het feit dat de cirkels een deel over elkaar heen vallen. Met potlood en papier is dat al snel te constateren:

Juist op die snijpunten is de imperfectie goed waar te nemen. In elk snijpunt is dat anders opgelost.

In het snijpunt aan de wegzijde in het sproeispoor werd vermoedelijk de laatste cirkel gemaakt en kwam met door meet onnauwkeurigheden blijkbaar niet goed uit. Wie of wat deze formatie dan ook gemaakt heeft, heeft slordig gewerkt. Van één van de kleinere cirkels ontbreekt overigens een stukje.

On june 23th proffesional photographer Ron Moes flew over the formation. The DCW thanks Mr Moes for his permission to make use of his pictures. He discovereed the formation, that seemed to be a few days old. As he asked members of the "flying club malden", non of the other pilots had seen the formation before.

Although The formation actually is situated in Germany, we putted it on the DCW site, for laying very close to the Dutch border

Of course nothing can be said for certain, hoax or not, but this pattern can be easily made. The centre is laying in a tramline. For that reason no trails of visitors can be found.No footprints, no damaged vegetables. The large circle can be made very easy.

For the small ones you use half of the diametre of the big one,and you can create the smal ones with ease. Two times six, starting the next, where the previous was stopped, and touches the big one. (Diametre of the total formation about 45 m)

However, theree is a problem. Drawing perfect half circles on a straight line is no problem. In this formation the circles are overlapping.Drawing with pen and paper, you can see it:

On the crossings the imperfection is good to be seen. In every crossing the problem is solved on a different way. In the crossing on the radside, in the tramline, it didn't come out so well. Probably it was the last smaller circle that was made. Who or whatever made this formation, didn't do it well.Of one of the smaller circles, a part is missing.
